Located in East London, the Shadwell DLR provides access to Tobacco Dock and the residential locations in and around Shadwell with annual passenger movements exceeding seven million people.
Wayfinding was a clear requirement of the lighting within this project as well as delivering technical performance to areas such as the platform. To assist with wayfinding/movement, a combination of both functional and feature lighting arrangements were introduced, the latter focussed on elements such as the viaduct structure and the external public realm.
This approach was then introduced to other DLR station, ensuring a continuity of presentation across the DLR estate.
