LOCATION:

This pristine Art Nouveau building is a major landmark in the city of St Petersburg. Situated on the River Moika adjacent to the Red Bridge, the latter element providing the inspiration for the name of the newly refurbished building.

Originally completed in 1907, in the tradition of a typical European Department store (at that time part of a chain that included stores in Berlin, Paris & Vienna), the building underwent an extensive renovation to create a high-end international retail destination.

The EQ2 brief included both the external presentation of the building and the lighting of the store interior to facilitate incoming concessions and tenants.  As well as the 8 retail floors, the interior also included a substantial Atrium together with feature lifts and staircases.

The exterior of the project not only included the main building facades, but also the adjacent river front buildings and the newly refurbished Cupola.  Each of these elements are feature illuminated with the backlit Cupola being visible from across the city at night.

The refurbished building now provides a location for a series of events as well as retail activity that includes exhibitions, fashion shows and screenings.
