Project:
Burgenstock Resort
The Burgenstock Resort is the largest hotel and hospitality project within the EQ2 portfolio – indeed, it is the largest resort of its type in Switzerland. Located on the Burgenstock mountain, the resort comprises 30 buildings including 4 luxury hotels, conference facilities, several international quality sports arenas and a series of residences.
The resort has an interesting history having incorporated hotel and hospitality activity since the late 19th century. It became a focus in the 1950s/60s for visiting Hollywood stars, royalty and politicians.
A key requirement of the project, which was a particular challenge given its size, was the delivery and the ongoing operation of the scheme in an ecologically sensitive manner. The external illumination of the site incorporates this requirement with the use of optically sensitive luminaires and relevant lighting control, creating an apparently ‘dark’ post-dusk environment.
In addition to the site exterior, the EQ2 Light work parcel included the four hotel buildings, conference facilities and a number of the sports facilities. Whilst providing distinctive offers (and providing different service levels), there is a broad continuity incorporated across the interior project lighting to make sure the whole Burgenstock experience is joined up.
EQ2 Light worked with MKV Design and Russli Architekten for the client Katara on this project which has won many design awards including the LIV Interior Design Resort – Luxury 2021.
